First off, my Robot Day 2015 picture got featured on Newgrounds' front page as the official banner! An honor! It's too bad I dropped the ball by misspelling the actors name as Daran Morris. Its Daran Norris.

Apparently this mistake wasnt enough to dissuade Azhthar from making some inspired music-- give it a listen!

SirUndead and I have been drunkenly hammering out some ideas for future flash projects over sessions of Dirty Bomb. He's been honing his Aussie grunts down to a razors edge and I'm still beating Adobe Flash with a club, so I'm sure whatever mutant animation baby we abandon here on Newgrounds will be a smash hit.

This makes it seem more serious than it is. Trust me, its hilarious! Guys! Guys?

Now the next bit of news is something I've been excited to talk about for a few months.

Around New Years I drew some fanart for Mxthe's excellent game Underhell. Great first-person shooter, fantastic writing and story, amazing music, and absolutely free. Check out the link to read more and download it, or if you need to hear me gush about it some more, check out my art link. Seriously. I wrote a novella about this damn game. If you're a fan of the multiplayer shooter Insurgency you have him to thank for the map design, too. He's one talented bastard.

Anyways, he contacted me via Twitter early April to thank me and offer a proposal. Turns out he needs an artist. For what? Well, did I mention Underhell has released only the prologue and first chapter to a five-chapter game? 

The man needed a character designer. Holy shit, it was Christmas all over again. So since April I've been designing characters, sketching, discussing, and chilling out with someone who made a game I love, works for a successful game company, is genuinely cool as all shit, and had John Romero say Underhell was a cool title at a convention. I have proof. Sortof. There's no speech bubble over his head saying "wow Underhell sounds metal" but-- you get it.

There's still a very...very long way to go but so far I've been loving every second. As of this moment I have completed 25 character designs that range from fullbody shots to front and side views of faces designed from the ground up. In the scrap folder there are 139 sketches, variations, works in progresses, and abominations that should never see the light of day. I unearthed one of the less terrifying ones here.

My comic Kansas on Storyshift is far from dead, its just coming along at a geologic pace. Many thanks to all the folks who read it-- every single view and vote means a lot to me. I want so badly to get this story out in no small part due to the reaction it has been getting so far. Heres another picture to add to this uncomfortably large pile!

Final bit of news, I'll be brushing the dust off my Etsy shop and selling some stuff and things! The link will come soon. It wont have a huge inventory but I figure I could maybe earn enough dough to go to the Ottawa Gem Show this year and buy all the sparkly rocks.

Hi, folks! So I've recently begun work on a Japanese-inspired lovestory manga I'm hesitantly calling "GunLeather." It's been an idea floating around in my head for a while and with all this work I'm doing on Storyshift I feel it's about time for me to do something about it. I'll expect the first few teaser pages to be up within the week, but given the...uh... adult nature of the manga I'll have to find a place to publish all the XXX rated pages. Anybody know of any good sites that host user-created adult comics? I dont want to call it hentai because it's really more a romance story with adult themes.

I don't think I'm ever going to not be apologizing for the lack of punctuality on my part. I was actually pretty on top of this chapter, but then vacation happened, then work, then videogames, then minor miscommunications kinda snowballed a bit-- but guaranteed it's my fault. Hope you didnt throw away the tomatoes lurking underneath your crisper drawer quite yet, cause you can huck 'em at meeeeee!

I fucked up again!

And missed out on all the artist alley tables. I'll still be there, though, and my brother has been gneeping on about how its some anniversary for Ghost In The Shell or some freaking thing so I'll probably show up wearing only a grey leotard trying hopelessly to cosplay as Kusinagi. Choo choo, get the shametrain rolling, cause I gotta get in shape fo' dat. That shape: pure beefslab. If you're in Ottawa in May, check it out, it's a pretty rad event.

Third!

Ah-- third--- what was... *shuffles papers* third, third... oh, right, yeah. New Years Resolutions. Shut up, putting them in a list makes it easier for me to remember them. They're all art-related, too, so you won't have to listen to me rant about how much I hate not being able to put sugar in my tea. Guess what I FURKGIN HATE IT HFAGGHH-

-Colour theory! Gotta brush (HEH) up on colours. Different styles (realism, cell-shading), composition, and using actual physical paints to mix colours. Seriously, it can be hard. Real paints are hard.

-Backgrounds! It's not so much that I can't sorta kinda do backgrounds, it's that I don't take them seriously and they turn out sloppy and rushed. Don't be me. Don't be an asshole. Backgrounds are important.

-Movies! I'm not incredibly optimistic about how many animation projects I'll be getting done this year. There could be some pretty cool stuff coming but everything still being in the planning stages, it's hard to say. Animation obviously takes a lot of time and emotional investment, which, uh, really--well, isn't quite my style, especially when its just me trying to get a personal movie finished. I'll still be working hard on a project any given time, it's just...not...gonna be produced fastly.

-Making dough! This year I want to really get the ball rolling on making art a sorta part-time career. This'll mean buckling down and kissing fandom ass with prints and the like to be sold at the next comiccon. I'm gonna do research into laminating, too, cause little things like bookmarks I can do at work with coloured pencils and just slowly build a pile to dish out to all you wonderful nerds. 

That about wraps it up, I think. Everybody-- try to make this year a good one. It won't work, but keep your collective chins up. Talk to somebody you haven't seen in a while. Watch a new show you don't think you'll like. Stick something new up your butt. Stay positive and stay cool.

This year I'm gonna do my best to have a flash movie submitted in time to celebrate with you wonderful bastards, but I have a holiday coming (hopefully) at the end of the month and still a lot of comic pages to finish for Storyshift. And last bit of news, internet.

Oh, the internet.

I'm not really an adult about anything, so my roommate gave me the task of setting up the internet as practice.

I made a call to a recommended internet service provider on August 21st, a week or so after we moved into our apartment (which is rad, by the way, with it right beside the river so morning runs can turn into morning drowining sessions with wonderful convenience). Its been about two months, and I'm still conducting all my internet work via smartphone. 

Its been two months.

This is like rabbit starvation.

To the best of my knowlege, I've done nothing wrong (the spectre of me fucking up haunts me late at night with frighting persistance, but my roomie went over all of it with me and agrees, I'm totally blameless. Save for, you know, the murders and stuff). There's been many calls to and from the service provider, many appointments made to hook up the internet--all of which were no-shows with no follow up call or email--I have paid TWICE to get this shit rolling (they're keeping the first monies as credit, which means I wont have to pay until next year, which is sortof convienient, I guess) and they only just sent my second modem because the first "wasnt suitable for my building." The people I've talked to have been very kind and I'm always on my best innocent white girl behavior with phone operators, but jesus.

My roommate took me aside at work the other day. Looking deep into my eyes, she husked "I will call them on Tuesday and give them the most rounded-out bitchfest they have ever recieved. We will have internet in a week...and the first six months will be free."

So maybe that'll be the end of it. Bah. Anyways, I've been pretty quiet because Newgrounds and smartphones don't really see eye-to-eye. Doesn't stop me from abusing the hell out of Twitter--I wish it would, that Gamergate thing isn't helping anybody's image.

*sigh*

I wanna play Alien Isolation. I wanna Livestream. I wanna be able to check Newgrounds without dislocating both my thumbs.

Overall, yeah, kinda happy with it. I guess. Points go to SUd for being a pushy son of a bitch when I didn't want to be-- you can thank him for those attractive (and...allegedly hard-to-find in the initial release) buttons actually being made.  ...And the voice acting. And the bonus audio clips that I'll keep in the deepest, darkest corners of my harddrive for the deepest, darkest nights. And for buying me the actual games in the first pla--you know what? Lets declare the guy President. Sure, he'll likely kill us all through a mix of bored toying around and neglect, but it would be a wild ride.
